National Pan-Hellenic Council
的 National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is the coordinating body for the historically African-American fraternities 和女学生联谊会 at San José State University. 在全国范围内, NPHC is comprised of nine organizations (5 fraternities and 4 sororities), and is known as the "Divine Nine." NPHC promotes interaction through forums, meetings and other mediums for the exchange of information and engages in cooperative programming and initiatives through various activities and functions.

α α, the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African-Americans, was founded at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. 的 chapter here at 菠菜网lol正规平台, was founded on March 6, 1962. Currently, the chapter is continuing the legacy of Alpha and continues to stress academic excellence among its members, the brothers also recognized the need to help correct the educational, economic, political, and social injustices faced by African-Americans.

Alpha Kappa Alpha is the first Greek-lettered sorority established and incorporated by African-American 女大学生. 的 sorority was founded on January 15, 1908 at Howard University in 华盛顿特区.C. Forming a sorority broke barriers for African-American women in areas where little power or authority existed due to a lack of opportunities for minorities and women in the early 20th century.
